Let’s give a hand in the kitchen! Allow your youngsters to give you a hand in the kitchen while helping you prepare this yummy cranberry bread recipe.  Let them do as much measuring as possible.

Cranberry Bread

2 cups of sifted all purpose flour

1 cup of sugar

1 1/2 teaspoon of baking powder

1 teaspoon of salt

1/2 teaspoon of baking soda

1/4 cup of butter or margarine

1 egg, beaten

3/4 cup of orange juice

1 teaspoon of grated orange peel (optional)

3 cups of fresh or frozen cranberries, chopped

Sift flour, sugar, baking powder, salt, and baking soda into a large bowl.  Cut in butter until crumbly.  Add egg, orange juice, and orange peel (if applicable) and stir until moist.  Fold in cranberries.  Spoon into a greased 9”x 5” x 3” loaf pan. Bake at 350° for 1 hour.
